A Letter From The CEO - COVID19

Dear Customers, Employees, Suppliers, and Friends:

As the Coronavirus continues to disrupt our health and business, I felt it to be important that you all hear from me. First of all, Patty and I are currently healthy, as well as our crew to the best we can tell. Patty and I have spent the winter in Florida, but intend to arrive home the first week of April with the hopes we can begin a limited launch schedule sometime thereafter pending approvals from the appropriate authorities. We are hopeful that Boats By George will be able to avoid any layoffs. We are well capitalized and, if necessary, will only furlough certain employees and continue to keep their health insurance in effect. Hopefully, none of this is necessary.

At this time, I would like to announce that Adam Pensel has been named General Manager of Boats By George. I am very proud of his actions already during this pandemic. He is leading us to full digital operations to eliminate as much paper as possible including the spring launch letters, and has had his hands full in leading the team. I will take on the role of CEO, and continue to assist in any way I can without getting in the way of our great organization as our mandated improvements continue.

As soon as we have a better idea when we can start moving the boats to the lake, we will connect with all of our storage customers via email to begin scheduling. New and preowned boat purchasers can expect to hear from their sales professional to establish a delivery date. Our service center has been working on boats all winter, and roughly 85% of the boats stored in each of our 4 rack buildings are ready for water testing and touch-ups. That being said, this spring launch will be challenging in the wake of the delays that we are facing. We have 600 boats to launch this spring. The process of launching all of these boats from start to finish lasts 6-8 weeks. This means that if our very first launch takes place on May 1st, our final launch may go into the end of June. Please be as understanding as possible as we do our best to deliver your boat in a timely fashion. Some ancillary services may be limited in the interest of expediency.

In closing, I would like to thank you for your business, support, and friendship. I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to serve boaters over the last 50 years of my career in the boat business. I am fairly confident we can turn the spread of this virus around, and we will be enjoying our boats and our families this summer. I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Very Truly Yours,

George R Pensel
